Arcadia man killed in motorcycle wreck.

Arcadia, FL (July 6, 2009) - A 33-year-old Arcadia man was killed Monday afternoon when he tried to pass a motorist on his motorcycle, collided with it and was thrown into the grass, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Christopher C. Roberson was taken to Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda after the wreck on U.S. 17 and Hull Avenue in DeSoto County, FHP reports.


Suzuki after crash
Roberson, driving a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle, was driving north on U.S. 17 at 2:25 p.m. and Kimberly A. Utz, 19 of Arcadia, was also heading north on U.S. 17 in a 1999 Ford, FHP said. Utz started to slow down to make a right turn into a driveway when Roberson tried to pass her on the right, going into the paved shoulder of U.S. 17, FHP reports.

The left side of the motorcycle collided wth the Ford causing Utz to drive into a ditch on the east side of the road.

Roberson traveled northeasterly and was thrown from the motorcycle when his bike overturned.
